NOUN CLAUSE
Noun Clause is the dependent clause that functions asa noun (a noun). This noun clause can function as thesubject or object in a clause or phrase. Because offunctioning as a noun, then it can be replaced with thepronoun "it".
Examples:

I forgot it. (pronoun)
·
I forgot that the fact was very important.

Functions and examples of Noun Clause
1. Noun clause as subject sentence
(subject of asentence).
Example sentence:

What you said doesn’t convince me at all.

What the salesman has said is untrue.
-
That the world is round is a fact.
2. Noun clause as a transitive verb object (the
object of a transitive verb).
Example sentence:
-
I know what
you mean.
-
Please tell me what
happened.
-
I don’t understand what
he is talking about.
3. Noun clause as object preposition (object of
apreposition)
Example sentence:
-
Please listen to
what your teacher is saying.
-
Be careful of
what you’re doing.
4. Noun clause
sebagai pelengkap (complement)
Contoh kalimat:
-
This is what
I want.
-
That is what
you need.
5. Noun clause as granting additional description (anoun in apposition)
Example sentence:
-
The idea that people can live without oxygen is unreasonable.
-
The fact that
Adam always comes late doesn’t
surprise me.
NOTE:
Clauses that are in bold in the example sentence above
is a noun clause in which its function is as a noun/noun
(a noun).
